This session will focus on the critical relationship between communicators and university police in navigating through cases such as sexual assault, high profile investigations and other crises — working together to navigate through complex investigations, reporting, addressing public information requests and communicating while addressing the challenges of keeping internal and external audiences informed.
David L. Perry is assistant vice president for safety and chief of police for Florida State University (FSU). His responsibilities include overseeing safety, police, security services, access control and CCTV systems, transportation/parking enforcement and emergency management. He is responsible for the Panama City Florida campus, Sarasota Florida campus and the Florida State University School (K-12), in addition to main campus responsibilities in Tallahassee. Chief Perry is also a current adjunct instructor for the FSU School of Criminology and a certified instructor for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Leadership Academy.
