Health Care Reform and the Future of American Medicine

In this presentation, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, MD, PhD, Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and Chair of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, will describe the pressing need for health care reform, the key innovations in the Affordable Care Act, and how they are likely to impact the actual delivery of care.  From improving efficiency with “inter-operable” electronic health records to restructuring care delivery to improve outcomes and lower cost, Dr. Emanuel will provide an insider’s view of the vision driving health care reform, the challenges looming, and the future of American medicine.

Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel is Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and chair of the  Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Emanuel has written and edited 9 books and over 200 scientific articles.  He is currently a columnist for the New York Times.
