Jeff Smith, CEO, Commercial Connect, LLC (dotShop) and a CORE Internet Council of Registrars founder, has been involved in the management and reorganization of the Internet for the past 15 years. Smith was active in the formation of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) after the breakup of Network Solutions. As a founding co-owner of Afilias, LLC, Smith and his colleagues launched a successful bid to operate the .info registry. As CEO of Commercial Connect, LLC, Smith applied for the release of .shop in 2000. He has consulted for various telecommunications and high-level technology companies including NASA, United Parcel Service and Humana, Inc. on technology and Internet-related issues.
