Over the last few years, much has been written about banks and financial institutions. How much of the blame is deserved and what can financial institutions do to get their message out? Kent Eric Wissinger, communication manager, Wilmington Trust; Marcia Watson DiStaso, Ph.D., assistant professor, public relations, Pennsylvania State University; and Dawn Kelly, vice president, Global Communications, Prudential Financial, will delve into the role that news media and social media played in shaping perceptions about the financial crisis, as well as how community involvement has been used by financial institutions to communicate with their customers.

Kent Eric Wissinger, communications manager, Wilmington Trust
Wissinger previously managed corporate communications for parent company M&T Bank. He was also director of marketing and PR for the Harrisburg Symphony. Wissinger spent most of career in political and government communications on both state and federal levels.
Marcia Watson DiStaso, Ph.D., assistant professor, Penn State University
DiStaso is chair of PRSA Financial Communications Section, co-chair of PRSA National Research Committee, chair-elect of PRSA Educators Academy, an Arthur W. Page Senior Research Fellow, and advisory board member of International Public Relations Research Conference.
Dawn Kelly, vice president, Prudential Financial, Inc.
Since joining Prudential 13 years ago, Kelly has implemented multi-faceted communications strategies for the company, the Prudential Foundation, and other corporate initiatives.
