As professionals worldwide have taken ownership of public relations as a professionalized occupation, the U.S. practice is no longer regarded as the benchmark. Jean Valin, APR, Fellow CPRS, founder, Valin Strategic Communications; Dean Kruckeberg, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA, professor and executive director, Global PR Center, University of North Carolina; Sergei Samoilenko, communications instructor, George Mason University; and Katerina Tsetsura, Ph.D., Gaylord Family Professor, Strategic Communication/Public Relations, Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Oklahoma, will review recent trends, as well as recognized best practices and requisite knowledge worldwide, with a particular focus on communication technology and its implications for global and local practice.
Jean Valin, APR, Fellow CPRS, founder, Valin Strategic Communications
Valin founded Valin Strategic Communications after a 30-year career as a senior communication executive. He has advised senior officials and ministers of the Government of Canada on communication matters throughout his career. He was awarded his accreditation (APR) in 1987 and was called to the College of Fellows in 2001.

Kruckeberg is co-chair of the Commission on Public Relations Education and is a past member of PRSA's National Board. He is former chair of the U.S. National Commission on Public Relations Education and of PRSA's Educators Academy.
Sergei Samoilenko, communications instructor, George Mason University
Samoilenko is also a researcher and writer. He is active as a consultant and trainer in Eastern Europe and Central Asia on the matters of crisis communication, trust and reputation building, and social media usage in emerging markets.
