"When Will Consumers Pay to Be Good?"

June Cotte, Ph.D., is the George and Mary Turnbull Fellow and associate professor of marketing at the Richard Ivey School of Business, will highlight the implications of her recent study, "When Will Consumers Pay to Be Good?" as well as analyze whether or not consumers reward corporations for their social responsibility practices and, if so, how much.

Cotte's research interests focus on behavioral issues, including why and when people will pay more for ethically produced products, how perception of time influences behavior at work and in leisure, family influence on behavior and consumption issues in gambling.

Cotte is on the editorial review board of the Journal of Consumer Psychology. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, MIT/Sloan Management Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing and the Journal of Managerial Psychology, as well as The Wall Street Journal, and other journals and books.

From 1998–2001, she was assistant professor of marketing in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Additional previous work experience includes marketing research and industrial sales analysis positions at Union Gas, Ltd. She also has taught courses in marketing management, global marketing strategy, research methods, and personal selling and sales force management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration (with honors) at Brock University, MBA at the University of Windsor and Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut.
