Bruce K. Berger, Ph.D., Reese Phifer professor of advertising and public relations, University of Alabama
Sponsored by the Institute for Public Relations, University of Maryland and PRSA
Organizations spend millions on employee communications, and a whole industry of specialists has evolved to help companies improve communications. Yet levels of employee trust and engagement remain depressingly low. Closing this gap requires understanding what motivates employees, and then changing long-time managerial behaviors and systems to create conditions that foster motivation and engagement.
