This session turns the table on media training by having radio and television personalities provide a short course on what to do to be a good on-air guest. Go beyond the standard practice of message development to find out the dos and don’ts of appearing on radio and television to catch the audience’s attention.

Paul Lasley is executive producer/editor at OnTravel Radio. He is also the "TravelSmart" columnist for Westways, the magazine of the Automobile Club of Southern California, and for the six other AAA magazines the Auto Club publishes. Additionally, Paul produces and cohosts “Traveling,” a 25-minute talk show about travel that airs daily to an audience of two million in some 180 countries on American Forces Radio. He and his wife, Elizabeth Harryman, won the 2008 Gold Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award for Travel Broadcast in Audio. Elizabeth and Paul are the former travel contributors for NBC’s “TODAY” show and for "KTLA 5 Morning News” in Los Angeles. For 15 years, they hosted travel talk radio shows in L.A., on KABC and KPCC. Elizabeth Harryman is travel editor at Westways. Westways has a circulation of four million, a readership of eight million and 48 percent penetration of the Southern California market. The magazine won the 2011 Silver Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award for Travel Coverage in General Magazines and the Bronze Award for 2012. Elizabeth also coordinates the travel coverage for the other six AAA magazines the Auto Club publishes, which cover markets from New England to Hawai‘i and have a combined readership of about 14 million. Elizabeth works with her husband, Paul Lasley, on broadcast projects and podcasts.
