With last month’s issue, we unveiled an updated look for Tactics. Based on emails and tweets, you seem to like the fresh layout and visually driven design. One member even tweeted a photo of herself reading the new issue by a swimming pool. (Nice to see on a 100-degree day in Manhattan!) Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
Also with the July issue, we introduced the publication in a flipbook format, viewable on a variety of devices that support either Flash or HTML 5. (The Strategist has been available as a flipbook since 2010.)
And soon, you’ll have another way of reading Tactics. In September, we’ll debut Tactics as an e-publication, which you’ll receive via email ahead of the print addition.
Aside from links to stories in the issue, the monthly e-publication will include supplemental PRSA features and resources as well as links to bonus online articles. Kyra Auffermann, our digital content editor, will assemble this version of the paper. (She also creates your daily Issues & Trends that ranks high as a member benefit.)
In the coming weeks, we’ll provide more details about updating your email preferences. PRSA has assessed your email delivery options, and members will now have more choices available regarding email communications. You can now refine your preferences to match your needs, from opting-in to only receiving Issues & Trends to notifications about employment opportunities at the PRSA Jobcenter.
Initially, you will be opted-in for all emails — think of this as taking a test-drive of all the content available to you. Then, we encourage you to go to your myPRSA profile, where you may edit your choices to suit your preferences.
You can also opt-out of print copies of both Tactics and The Strategist and still receive the electronic version with access to the flipbook.
Current members will have access to both versions of the publications. However, we encourage everyone to consider only selecting online versions, helping PRSA to reduce our environmental impact and to meet the needs of our increasingly mobile membership.
