Summary

Rebecca Timms finds a moment to escape the bustling press box and sounds of Rihanna blaring throughout the Wachovia Center before a game to speak with Tactics. An avid hockey fan who attended her first Flyers game at 10 weeks old, Timms is currently interning in the PR department for the Philadelphia Flyers at the arena.

She took interest in the PR profession — and hockey — at an early age when her father, a reporter with the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, suggested that she think about a career in public relations. She realized that she loved the writing and media relations aspects of public relations and enjoyed the dynamic relationships she develops. During her senior year of high school, Timms had an opportunity to attend a PRSSA regional activity and never looked back.

Timms has been an active member of PRSSA at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. throughout her four years there and has also served in various leadership roles. She is a PR major and is pursuing minors in political science and journalism. Timms is the 2009-2010 national president of PRSSA and will graduate from Rowan this May.
