A recent survey of more than 800 PRSA members across the United States published in the Spring 2009 issue of Journalism and Mass Communication Educator indicated that public relations professionals perceive that entry-level practitioners have trouble writing press releases, client memos and persuasive letters — even e-mails. They struggle with spelling and punctuation, grammar, organization of ideas and usage rules. The inability of young practitioners to organize ideas seems to be the focus of supervisors’ discontent.
