As I was finishing my MBA and about to start my job search, my grandfather told me to take a stack of résumés and go knocking door-to-door in Manhattan.
“Just think, in one of those skyscrapers you might be able to visit 75 companies in one morning,” he said. But I knew times had changed since he last looked for a job, so I set up the latest in technology — my electric typewriter with self-correcting ribbon — and started typing.
Job seekers need to be on top of technology — so PRSA does, too. To support your job search, we strive to give you the latest tools and resources that you need to find career success. That’s why we’ve redesigned our Jobcenter twice in the past five years. Well-designed job boards lead to more traffic from job seekers, which leads to more postings from employers, leading to more job seekers. It’s a virtuous circle.
In a typical week, we attract between 25,000-30,000 unique visitors to our Jobcenter. Visitors scour 2,248 job postings and have posted a total of 8,000-plus résumés.
