While the recent report by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the use of social media for regulatory compliance has had little impact on the way issuers disclose material news, it provides an opportunity for PR professionals to assist their investor relations counterparts in developing social media strategies.
But in order to do so effectively, PR practitioners must have a firm understanding of disclosure guidelines, IR communications best practices and recent issues regarding corporate use of social media.
