The Accreditation in Public Relations + Military Communication (APR+M) is an enhanced certification from the well-established Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). The APR+M signifies that an individual meets all APR qualifications, as well as possesses a rigorous knowledge surrounding military public affairs. The APR+M credential indicates achievement of certification in military public affairs, and demonstrates to other communications professionals and, most importantly, military leaders, high proficiency in areas critical to military communication activities. Barbara Burfeind, APR+M, chief, Visual Information (VI) Plans & Integration, Defense Visual Information Directorate, handles policy and management of all Department of Defense imagery assets. She has coordinated proponency visits with more than six Combatant Commands, gathering feedback used to shape VI policy and operations for the future. She has drafted a Joint VI Concept of Operations (CONOPS), providing an overview of the Joint VI Enterprise, which includes VI planning and case studies.
