Many say your resume is your calling card, but is your phone ringing? Social media, such as Twitter and LinkedIn, have not only changed how you network, but also require you to step up your game.
 
This workshop takes an intensive look at the resume — what's new, what works and what doesn't. Keep your resume out of the "toss" pile, and get to the next stage of your career with professional tips and insights.
 
In this session, you will:

  • Set goals and learn to network with a purpose.
  • Learn how to use LinkedIn effectively.
  • Write cover letters that capture interest and garner responses.
  • Revise your resume to get noticed by potential employers.
  • Plan your research strategy to ace any job interview.
  • Have your resume critiqued by a professional.

Sandy Charet, consultant, Charet and Associates

Photo of Sandy Charet Charet has been recruiting for the PR and corporate communications industry for more than 20 years. She has worked with many of the world's largest corporations and PR firms, helping them to find the most qualified candidates for their companies. In doing so, Charet has interviewed hundreds of professional communicators at all levels, across many different industries. She has shared her experience as it relates to building a PR career at the PRSA International Conference, and as a visiting lecturer at various universities, including the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York University, Fordham and others.


Richard Spector, senior manager, corporate development, PRSA

Photo of Richard Spector Spector has been working with the PRSA Jobcenter for five years. He has counseled job seekers on resume writing, the changing roles of public relations, personal branding and interview preparation, and has presented at NYU SCPS, WVU IMC and The Black Public Relations Society. He has written career articles for PRSA’s ComPRehension blog and Public Relations Tactics, and regularly contributes content to the PRSA Jobcenter. Previously he was manager of research for 17 years with the Direct Marketing Association.
