Burfeind has more than 25 years of experience as a communication professional, Navy public affairs officer and photojournalist. In October 2012, she was inducted into the PRSA College of Fellows, recognizing her career contributions to public relations. She is a frequent presenter of the APR/APR+M programs.
Burfeind is currently the chief of visual information (VI) plans and integration at the Defense Media Activity. She ensures VI planning and policy for the Department of Defense is incorporated into operational plans and is an advocate for the VI – Combat Camera community. She conducts outreach through education initiatives, online information sharing, and collaboration with interagencies (such as the State Department) and combatant commands.
In 2009, Burfeind was the PRSA National Capital Chapter president. She received her APR+M in 2010 and was the 2011 APR+M Council Chair. She has also been an NCC board member, APR committee chair, and Public Affairs and Government Section/Executive Committee member.
