As one of the six founding chapters of PRSA and one of the largest in the country, the Detroit Chapter serves as a career gateway to public relations professionals in metro Detroit for its more than 400 members — from students to seasoned professionals —who represent business and industry, agencies, solo practitioners, associations, nonprofit organizations and government entities. The Chapter is committed to providing extensive educational and career opportunities, including monthly programs, professional development sessions, a biennial state conference, a strong Accreditation (APR) preparation program, an online job bank, internship opportunities, and other supportive activities. We also feature special interest groups for a more personalized experience, such as Automotive Council, Senior Council, Multicultural, New Professionals and Protégé (a mentoring program for college students). In addition, we recognize members’ outstanding contributions to the field and service to the chapter through our annual Hall of Fame and Robert Hefty Distinguished Service Awards, along with an exceptional student intern with the annual Rising Star Award. Detroit also awards two scholarships each year to Michigan college students, giving more than $42,000 to date. We are the best resource in metro Detroit for public relations and communications insight, and we encourage you to visit PRSA-Detroit to learn more about our Chapter.

“PRSA, especially my local Detroit chapter, has been my career anchor and resource for business leads and networking no matter where I’ve worked. It has crafted me into the professional I am today. I’ve also made many good friends – an unexpected benefit of PRSA.”
- Jennifer Flowers, APR, senior public relations officer, Henry Ford Health System, PRSA Detroit board member and APR chair
