One of the fastest growing and most dynamic Chapters in the country, the Buffalo Niagara Chapter covers the eight counties of Western New York and is part of PRSA’s Northeast District. The Chapter celebrated 40 years of excellence in 2005 and has more than 180 active members.
The Buffalo Niagara Chapter comprises professionals from corporate, agency, government, higher education and nonprofit sectors, from entry-level to seasoned practitioners. Ample networking opportunities exist year-round via monthly Chapter-sponsored programs and events. Members also enjoy the additional privileges of our online job bank and member directory, as well as discounts on Chapter programs and invitations to member-only functions.
Monthly professional development programs tackle a wide variety of topics relevant to today’s practitioner, including diversity, strategic communication, social networking, crisis communication and media relations, just to name a few. All programs are designed to help members develop and enhance the skills necessary to practice effective public relations. Signature Events The Buffalo Niagara Chapter’s two signature events are the Excalibur Awards competition in June, and the Sunrise Seminar Series held each August. The Excalibur Awards were established in 1990 and are conducted annually to recognize and reward outstanding public relations programs and projects developed by practitioners throughout the region. The Sunrise Seminars Series is a four-week, early-morning professional development initiative that enables related topics to be discussed in-depth. The series typically appeals to professional members and non-members alike, from a wide assortment of disciplines.

“Being a member of the Buffalo Niagara Chapter is the best part of PRSA! Networking with professionals from the local PR community is invaluable, and the outstanding programming is such that I can take whatever I learn in a chapter session straight to the office with me for use in the real world.”
