The 96-plus members of the Northwest Ohio Chapter, founded in 1951, represent more than 300 agency, corporate, government and nonprofit organizations in and around Toledo. The Chapter hosts a variety of programs to help public relations professionals throughout the region stay connected. Monthly luncheon meetings give professionals a chance to network and learn from first-hand accounts. Speakers run the gamut from media panels and newsmakers to some of the region’s top public relations executives. Meetings are relevant and enjoyable. Each year the Chapter holds one full- or half-day professional development workshop that tackles a particular topic, examining it in depth. Recent topics have included media training, strategic planning and relationship building via new technologies. Chapter members receive an online newsletter and invitations to social gatherings.

“As a former newspaper journalist-turned-media relations officer, I quickly discovered how invaluable my fairly recent membership has meant in the Toledo Chapter and national organization of PRSA. My career transition almost four years ago was made so much easier through the overwhelming assistance, networking, and advice provided to me by my new public relations colleagues. PRSA provides an abundance of information in the form of e-mails, publications, meetings, workshops and so much more. I expect to have even more success in this exciting field of public relations due to my participation in PRSA.”
- Rhonda B. Sewell, media relations officer, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library
