About Our Chapter

PRSA Rochester is comprised of approximately 150 members from 100 companies, nonprofit organizations and agencies in the greater Rochester, N.Y. area. The Chapter is active in helping members address local issues and trends by offering opportunities for professional development. In addition, PRSA Rochester is committed to tomorrow’s public relations professionals, maintaining a close advisory role with area chapters of PRSSA. Governance of PRSA Rochester is by a local board of directors made up of active public relations professionals who hold the offices of president, president-elect, immediate past president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, directors at large and chairs of the Chapter’s standing committees. PRSA Rochester offers its members several benefits, including:

• Accreditation: successful completion of the Accreditation process results in the awarding of the designation Accredited in Public Relations (APR) to public relations professionals with at least five years of experience. The designation signifies a high professional level of experience and competence.
• Professional development seminars: PRSA Rochester hosts monthly luncheon programs designed to further the practice of public relations by its members, and offers members the opportunity to network with their peers.
• Networking: PRSA Rochester gives members access to approximately 150 of the Rochester area’s leading public relations practitioners. Its members represent all facets of local industry, from nonprofit and government organizations, to agencies, educational institutions, and other associations.
• Social network: Through the PRSA Rochester social network, members are able to keep up on the latest chapter news and events, discuss current industry issues with peers, post photos, and much more.
• PRism Awards: Each year, the area’s best work in public relations is showcased at the PRism Awards. Established in 1989, annual event is a celebration of professional excellence.
