The Tulsa Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has more than 100 members in the public relations, communication, journalism, marketing and advertising professions. Members come from nonprofit, corporate and agency backgrounds and find networking with colleagues and professional development are the main benefits to their membership.
The Tulsa Chapter meets monthly for lunch, except for a few times when other annual and special activities are planned. Monthly meetings typically include an engaging speaker or a panel of speakers to discuss current topics that are relevant to issues that public relations professionals face every day. Most months, the chapter meets at 11:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Philbrook Museum of Art.
In June every year, the Tulsa PRSA Chapter holds their annual SilverLink Awards banquet to announce and honor SilverLink winners. And in October the Chapter provides a half or whole day event for professional development. These events are put together through suggestions by members of what topics they would like to cover and are an affordable way to learn about the newest developments in public relations.
The Tulsa Chapter of PRSA also offers opportunities to work with other professionals on a variety of committees, monthly e-mail newsletter, APR study groups and mentoring, and NuPros, a resource for young professionals.
