About Our Chapter

The Central Texas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) serves Waco and the surrounding area.

As a member of the Central Texas Chapter of PRSA, professionals benefit from being connected to a national organization. Central Texas members receive publications on timely public relations issues and receive member discounts on PRSA training opportunities including on-site workshops, teleconferences and journals. Professionals with at least five years experience can pursue accreditation through PRSA. Several of our members have completed the accreditation process, which includes both a verbal and written examination.

Central Texas PRSA Lunch Meeting December 13th

Our December meeting will feature guest speaker Marlene Neill, APR (@neillpr), lecturer at Baylor University in the Department of Journalism, Public Relations and New Media.

The title of Neill's presentation is "Office Politics: Why Public Relations Executives Frequent Starbucks & Fitness Centers."

She will discuss what services public relations executives and their colleagues in other divisions consider to be essential that are provided by public relations at the management level. Neill will also discuss the importance of building internal relationships and the use of allies and informal coalitions to influence company decision making.

Her research on this subject includes interviews with 30 senior executives at three Fortune 500 companies and a fourth multinational company.
