About Our Chapter
The Southwest Missouri Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America provides a forum for advancing the public relations profession through ethical practices, professional development, networking and mentoring opportunities. The chapter has members from Springfield, Branson, Joplin and other surrounding communities and includes public relations professionals from agencies, businesses, not-for-profits, governments and education institutions.
The Southwest Missouri Chapter of PRSA is dedicated to:
- increasing the public's understanding of public relations
- strengthening professional image
- providing a public relations forum
- offering professional development
- upholding ethical, professional standards
- fostering unity among members
- serving as regional public relations professionals
- educating institutions, students and instructors on public relations careers and counseling nonprofit organizations on request
A number of activities are organized each year to provide educational opportunities and to offer avenues for members to get involved in the chapter. These include our PR Boot Camp in the summer, our Professional Development Conference in the fall and an Evening With Stars awards banquet in November. In 2012, the Southwest Missouri Chapter sponsored and helped plan Missouri State University’s annual PRSSA Day organized by MSU’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
