Darden Program Instructors

A highly interactive, two-day program, the PRSA Counselors Academy Leadership Program, September 8–10, will be facilitated by leading members of the UVA Darden Business Scool faculty.

R. Edwards Freeman, Ph.D, Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business Administration, is also academic director of the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics. Freeman’s latest book, “Managing for Stakeholders: Survival, Reputation, and Success” helps executives adjust their management approach for more successful outcomes. He has also authored more than forty Darden case studies. Before joining the Darden School of Business in 1986, Freeman taught at the University of Minnesota and The Wharton School. He has received teaching awards at all three schools.

Jeanne Liedtka, MBA, DBA, United Technologies Corporation Professor of Business Administration, is a member of the Strategy, Ethics and Entrepreneurship area at Darden. Liedtka's current teaching responsibilities focus on design thinking, innovation and organic growth in the MBA and Executive Education programs. Previously, the executive director of the Batten Institute, a foundation within Darden established to develop thought leadership in the fields of entrepreneurship and corporate innovation. Liedtka has also served as chief learning officer for the United Technologies Corporation, headquartered in Hartford, Conn, and associate dean of the M.B.A. Program at Darden. Previously she held the Johnson and Higgins Research Professorship..

James R. Rubin, Ph.D., assistant professor of business administration and area coordinator of management communicati, leads the Management Communication curriculum. Rubin has worked as a communications consultant for global corporations, and given numerous talks on management and corporate communications. He has written and supervised many cases on corporate communication as well as articles on corporate brand and crisis communication. Rubin was the first faculty recipient of the Frederick S. Morton Award, which annually recognizes a Darden student for excellence in leadership and the faculty member who contributed the most to that student's Darden experience. Rubin joined the Darden faculty in 1991.

Lou Centini, MSA, senior director of executive education and lecturer of business administration, has held a variety of human resource and executive development positions at the Weyerhaeuser Company, Berol Corporation and the Miller Brewing Company. His current areas of interest include strategic management, human resources and management development. Centini is a consultant to many organizations in the areas of business strategy, human resources, team building, leadership development and change management. He has taught extensively in Darden Executive Education programs and courses at the University of Virginia and Western Connecticut State University.
