Monica Ackerson, CAE, APR

Monica Ackerson is a nationally certified communication and association management professional with more than 25 years of diverse expertise in public relations, association management, public policy, and fund development.

After graduating from Hope College with a degree in political science and communications, she served members of the Michigan House of Representatives for more than a decade before reinventing herself in a more traditional public relations role. From 2007-2016, Monica served Michigan’s 83 county road agencies, creating award-winning PR and non-dues revenue programs for the County Road Association of Michigan.

In 2016, Monica formed her own firm, Integrated Association Solutions LLC, and took the helm as the executive vice president of the Michigan Road Preservation Association (MRPA), a 501(c)(6) trade association representing Michigan’s preventive maintenance contractor industry. Leading MRPA continues to be her primary role.

From lobbying, public affairs and issue management to PR, development, and capital campaigns, Ackerson’s unique skill set has allowed IAS to serve a broad range of association and non-profit clients. In addition to her work with MRPA, she currently serves as the PR and development director for Mother Teresa House for the Care of the Terminally Ill as they lay the framework to expand their services.

Ackerson has been active in PRSA since 2010, including co-chairing PRSA’s Governance Committee for two years. In 2017, she was recognized with the PACE Maker of the Year award, the highest individual honor from the PRSA Central Michigan Chapter.
