Saluting 20 Years of Counsel, Strategy and Service

In 1998, a small group of public relations innovators saw a need to create a network to advance the awareness of and appreciation for the role of public relations in higher education.

From that idea grew a network of more than 700 higher education senior-level and aspiring leaders who serve higher education institutions across our nation — the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Counselors to Higher Education (CHE).

As we enter our third decade, we are humbled by the confidence placed in us and the trust of our staff as we work each day providing our institutions with strategic counsel and expertise to advance our universities. For the members of our CHE network, we are pleased to provide you with the knowledge, analysis and trends affecting higher education and the tools you need to serve as effective strategic public relations and communication leaders for your college or university.

In these challenging times, we are committed to transparent and authentic communication; and privileged to be at the center of convening ideas, to serve as liaisons between our institutions and our many audiences including the media, government, alumni and communities. While our work is unique and challenging, we are fulfilled by the knowledge that our work has impact – that we make a difference.

As we enter our third decade of service:

We are honored by our CHE members representing more than 500 universities from across the country and world.

We are proud of the portfolio of best practices, tools, resources, mentoring, research and professional development we have amassed.

We are deeply appreciative of the recognition of our efforts by our presidents, provosts and deans. And we are deeply appreciative of the opportunity to serve.
