Opening General Session
Sunday, October 21, 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Sunday Keynote Speaker - Mia Farrow
Acclaimed Actress and Humanitarian Activist
Before there was Angelina Jolie, Bono and George Clooney there was Mia Farrow. She was and continues to be Hollywood's most active voice for making a
difference to those in need throughout the world. Known for her eloquence and honesty, Farrow's inspirational keynote session is the perfect way to kick off this year's International Conference.
As the mother of 14 children (10 of whom are adopted), Mia Farrow has devoted her life to humanitarian efforts. Farrow has been a high profile advocate for children's rights, working to raise funds and awareness for children in conflict affected regions, predominantly Africa. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has worked extensively to draw attention to the fight to eradicate polio, which she survived as a child. Her latest humanitarian effort raises awareness of the genocide occurring in Darfur, Chad and Central African Republic where she has personally witnessed the desperation during her six trips to the region. Connecting to the humanity in all us, she reminds us of our moral responsibility to assure that "never again" are not just words. Farrow will address what compels her to continue this work despite grave personal risk and will share how every individual can help.
Following her young life in 1940s Hollywood as the daughter of director John Farrow and actress Maureen O'Sullivan, she gained national attention through her role in the television classic "Peyton Place." Farrow went on to star in over 40 movies, including such classics as "Rosemary's Baby," "The Great Gatsby," "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Crimes and Misdemeanors," "Radio Days" and "Hannah and Her Sisters."
Farrow reflects on her ever-evolving life journey in her sincere and candid best seller, "What Falls Away." In what Newsweek calls "a simply elegant memoir," she presents a revealing account of her personal struggles and successes, and the quest to find deeper meaning in her life.
Farrow has been featured in several recent films including the romantic comedy
"The Ex" and the first part of director Luc Besson's planned trilogy of fantasy films, "Arthur and the Invisibles." She will star in director Michel Gondry's film "Be Kind Rewind," which is scheduled for a January 2008 release, opposite Jack Black and Danny Glover.
Arrangements for the appearance of Mia Farrow made through Greater Talent Network, Inc., NY, NY.
