The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced on Friday the appointment of Del Galloway, APR, to the position of executive director for CPB’s Public Awareness Initiative.
Galloway is responsible for the development and advancement of a national program to drive recognition of public broadcasting as an invaluable national resource that cultivates an informed and educated civil society. He will oversee all external and internal communications for the Initiative. Galloway will report to Patricia Harrison, president and CEO at CPB.
“CPB is committed to communicating to the American people the value of public media to a strong civil society, and affirming public media’s role connecting to community beyond the broadcast,” Harrison said in a release announcing Galloway’s appointment. “Del comes to us well-qualified to lead these efforts and will add a great depth of experience and expertise to our senior management team.”
Galloway has more than 22 years of PR and advertising experience, as well as a strong corporate background. Previously, Galloway was with Young & Rubicam, Cohn & Wolfe and AT&T. Most recently, he was a partner at Husk Jennings Galloway + Partners, a 27-year-old Florida-based advertising and PR agency.
In 2004, Galloway served as president and CEO of PRSA.
A native Floridian, Galloway earned a Bachelor of Science in communications and a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Florida, where he is honored as an Alumni of Distinction.
