Years of unprecedented hurricane activity left Florida residents shaken and critical of their electric provider, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). The company had a new plan to protect the electrical grid from future storms, but winning back public trust proved even more challenging. FPL and rbb Public Relations launched the Storm Secure communications program to communicate enhanced storm preparations and win back customer and media confidence. At the end of the campaign, more than half of FPL’s customers felt the utility was better prepared for storm season, and overall satisfaction with the company was restored to pre-storm levels.
