You Can Do What With Canva?!
Make Canva Do Backflips With a Free Account
Dec. 3 and 4, 2026, 2:30-3:30 p.m. EST
Note: This webinar series is designed to be beginner-friendly, making it accessible to participants with limited Canva experience while also introducing intermediate and mildly advanced techniques. The focus is on getting more from a free Canva account, including creative workarounds and techniques that many users may assume require Canva Pro. Canva’s capabilities extend well beyond the time available for this training.
You may be surprised what Canva can do.
Join public relations practitioner and educator Sam Sims, APR, Fellow PRSA, for this two-part instructional webinar exploring creative ways communications professionals can push a free Canva account well beyond basic templates and graphics.
Designed with public relations and communications work in mind, the sessions will demonstrate practical techniques for producing more distinctive social graphics, presentation visuals, branded assets, and video elements. Along the way, participants will discover workarounds for features often associated with Canva Pro, learn ways to make designs look less like “Canva templates,” and pick up tips and tricks they can immediately put to work.

Session 2: Canva in Motion — Video, Branded Frames and On-Screen Graphics

Canva isn’t just for static graphics. In Session 2, Sims will demonstrate ways to use Canva to create reusable branded assets and motion graphics for presentations, webinars, virtual meetings, livestreams, social content, and other communications.
Participants will learn how to build custom frames that extend an organization’s visual identity beyond traditional Canva templates, as well as create video countdowns for presentations and virtual events.
The session will also demonstrate how to design animated lower thirds — the name, title and information graphics commonly seen in television and video production — and export them for use outside Canva.
Topics include:
- Designing custom branded design frames for a variety of communications uses.
- Creating reusable visual assets that reinforce brand consistency.
- Building animated video countdowns.
- Creating professional-looking lower thirds.
