Libby Catalinich, APR, is the director of Communications at Pierce County, Washington.  She leads the team that is accountable for internal and external communication for the executive branch of County government.  The group has won several local and national awards for their work during the pandemic. She currently serves as president of the Puget Sound chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Previously, Libby was with outdoor outfitter REI, as the director of corporate communications.

She was responsible for the teams that manage employee communications, issue management, executive communications, public relations, product publicity, corporate events and media relations.  Libby joined REI after a 12-year career with Washington Mutual, where she led the team that won a national Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America.  At the time she left WaMu, Libby was senior vice president, public relations. 

Active in her community, Libby serves on the executive committee and board of directors of Habitat for Humanity.  She served two terms on the Board of Directors of Tacoma Rotary #8 and the University of Washington Fan Advisory Council. She is a member of Seattle’s Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2012 and served a three-year term as the Chair of the Issue Management Council, a global organization dedicated to advancing a strategic approach to managing reputational issues. Libby earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Washington and is an alumna of Kappa Alpha Theta.
