Linda Farmer, APR, CERA
Linda Farmer, APR, CERA was elected Pierce County Auditor in November 2022. In this non-partisan role, she oversees elections for 600,000 registered voters in Washington’s second largest county and is responsible for recording, licensing, and passport services. Linda manages a staff of 65.5 full-time employees, 200-300 part-time employees, and a biennial budget of $28 million.
An award-winning communications and government affairs professional, Linda has held leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including Comcast, Pacific Lutheran University, the Pierce County Library System, the cities of Tacoma and Federal Way, and as Chief Communications Officer for the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services, She got her start as a newspaper reporter and editor.
Linda was elected to the Pierce County Charter Review Commission in 2016 and to the Lakewood City Council in 2019. She holds a Master of Science degree in Communications Management from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Editorial Journalism and Political Science from the University of Washington. She was named the PR Professional of the Year in 2006 by the PRSA Puget Sound Chapter and was honored in 2025 with the Heavy Hitter Award by the Washington State Association of County Auditors. She and her husband, Jimmie, live in Lakewood, Wash. Their daughter, Dylan, attends Oregon State University.
