Michelle L. Marcotte, APR, is a senior communications specialist at Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), a role she has held since February 2019. In this capacity, she manages a broad range of communications functions, from graphic design and social media to strategic messaging, with a particular focus on elevating the unique stories behind SWEPCO’s people and operations.

Storytelling has been a defining thread throughout Michelle’s career. Before joining SWEPCO, she worked as a journalist for more than 15 years, including nine years with the Shreveport Times and its parent company, Gannett. Her reporting and editorial work spanned local government, the economy, transportation, and city hall, as well as features editing and statewide engagement, where she leveraged audience metrics to guide content strategy. Earlier in her career, she reported for The Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches, Texas, and The Daily News in Henderson, Texas.

Michelle earned her journalism degree from the University of North Texas in 2005 and achieved Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2025, underscoring her commitment to professional excellence, ethics, and strategic communication. Today, she brings together her newsroom-honed storytelling skills and corporate communications expertise to craft narratives that strengthen SWEPCO’s reputation and connect meaningfully with stakeholders.
