Carol Velandia
Carol Velandia is an advocate, social worker, interpreter, academic, entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of Equal Access Language Services LLC. She has integrated her passion for social justice, conflict resolution, language and culture into the vision and mission of the company: Preventing language based discrimination.
She is the creator of “Language as an Equalizer Program”, a program for healthcare, legal, and other public services professionals. Her program seeks to improve the implementation and delivery of language services, by putting language at the forefront of Cultural Competency and Diversity trainings.
She serves as adjunct faculty for the Graduate Program in Interpretation and Translation at the University of Maryland College Park, and for the Master’s Program in Social Work at University of Maryland in Baltimore.
