James Shackelford, APR serves as the head of global communications and content for Aon’s Digital Client Solutions. He is responsible for ensuring communications reflect the firm’s core values, leading the communications strategy and team across public relations, media relations, employee and executive communications, issues management, corporate messaging, thought leadership, content and social media.
Prior to Aon, Shackelford founded and led an integrated communications consultancy, where he supported brand communications for some of the world’s most recognized brands, including Walmart, AARP, UNICEF, Be The Match, and Westinghouse.
Shackelford is a past chair of the PRSA Diversity & Inclusion Committee and the Corporate Communications Section. He serves on the advisory board of St. John’s University’s public relations program and on the board of the American Classical Orchestra. He is also a member of the National Press Club of Washington, D.C. and serves on the NPC Communicator’s Team.
