Dec. 18, 2018

Society to Begin National Search for Successor

NEW YORK, NY – December 18, 2018 – The Public Relations Society of America announced today that Chief Executive Officer Joseph Truncale will retire at the end of 2019, upon fulfillment of his five-year employment agreement. The Society will now commence a national search for his successor and rely on Mr. Truncale’s continued leadership and his assistance through the transition process.

Truncale joined PRSA as CEO in January 2015. Under his leadership, a number of important strategic initiatives have been introduced, including establishment of regional representatives to better serve chapters and districts across the country, implementation of highly successful certificate programs, substantial upgrades to PRSA’s technology infrastructure, and key investments in District and Section programs.

“I have both enjoyed and valued working with Joe on PRSA policy, strategy, and governance, and appreciated his strategic perspective and extensive experience in the professional association sector,” said 2018 PRSA National Chair Anthony D’Angelo, APR, Fellow PRSA. “On behalf of our Executive Committee and Board of Directors, I’d like to thank him for all he’s contributed to our Society and we look forward to continuing to work with him through the next year to move PRSA forward.”

In addition to his position at PRSA, Truncale serves as treasurer on the executive committee of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA), a confederation of the world’s major communication associations, representing 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world. He has represented PRSA on the GA and enlisted its involvement in PRSA’s learning management system as a way to promote international knowledge exchange and content development.

“We have made significant progress on a number of fronts during my tenure at PRSA and the PRSA staff team and I look forward to even more success in the coming year,” added Joseph Truncale, CEO of PRSA.  “With an exceptional board, executive committee, and leadership at the national and chapter level, we are well positioned to continue building our Society and member-focused initiatives.”
