Leading Futurists Predict What’s Ahead for Business, Society and PR at PRSA Leadership Training Rally

Oct. 11, 2021

NEW YORK, October 11, 2021 Those who think the last 18 months have been turbulent and unexpected should buckle up for what’s to come – especially for business, society and the public relations profession. Yet preparing for the future need not be intimidating, according to two acclaimed futurists keynoting at the 2021 PRSA Leadership Training Rally.

Futurists Dan Fukushima and Sheryl Connelly will join Ray Day, PRSA Board of Directors member and former chief communications officer at IBM and Ford, in an important conversation from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. ET on Friday, October 15. In a keynote titled “Meeting the Moment: Maintaining Organizational Relevancy in Times of Change,” Fukushima, Connelly and Day will offer advice on what the future holds and what new leaders should do to follow their best practices.

Fukushima is a director and futurist at Toffler Associates, a future-focused strategic advisory firm. He has been helping global organizations identify, plan for and capitalize on disruptions for more than 30 years.

Connelly has served as Ford’s corporate futurist for more than 15 years. Her responsibilities include identifying global trends, exploring potential implications and cascading the futuring insights throughout design, product development and corporate strategy. Forbes named her as one of the Most Influential Women in Futuring, Fast Company named her as one of the Most Creative People in Business, and TechWeek has included her in its Top 100.

The keynote is part of PRSA’s annual leadership training event for newly elected Chapter leaders. The goal of the meeting is to help new leaders fulfill their roles successfully, confidently and with the knowledge and resources to complete tasks effectively. You can watch a live broadcast of the conversation here.

PRSA Chair-elect, and Chair of the 2021 Leadership Training Rally, Dr. Felicia Blow, APR, said, “With the COVID-19 pandemic, the racial reckoning that is upon us and more, arming our leaders with ways they can best lead their volunteer organizations is critical. Our hope is that this session, and all other elements of the 2021 Leadership Training Rally, will provide insights to our leaders on how they can integrate what we should be doing to help develop and then to translate that into forward-looking strategies within their Chapters, Districts and Professional Interest Sections.”
