Ray Costa
Ray Costa is the founder and president of Costa Communications, the first public relations, marketing, and consulting firm dedicated to film and television composers and songwriters, with a long record of successful Oscar music campaigns. Over more than 30 years, he has represented a distinguished roster of Oscar-winning and nominated composers, including Alan Menken, Marvin Hamlisch, Alexandre Desplat, Nicholas Britell, Justin Hurwitz, Mark Isham, Atticus Ross, Ludwig Göransson, Michael Abels, Robbie Robertson, Steven Price, Daniel Pemberton, and Kris Bowers, as well as emerging talents such as Tom Holkenborg, Antonio Sanchez, Jóhann Jóhannsson, and Simon Franglen.
Costa Communications has led awards campaigns for major songs and scores, including the Oscar-nominated “Lost Stars” from Begin Again, and has been commissioned for Oscar pushes on behalf of artists such as Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, H.E.R., Drake, Travis Scott, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Diane Warren, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Lenny Kravitz, and Jon Batiste. The firm has also supported studio awards efforts for composers like Hans Zimmer (Dune), Alberto Iglesias (Parallel Mothers), and Philip Glass (Jane), and has been contracted by virtually every major studio, resulting in nominations and wins across the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, Tonys, Emmys, and BAFTAs.
For over 25 years, Costa Communications has served as the official public relations firm of the Society of Composers & Lyricists, where Costa helped launch the SCL Awards and created new revenue-generating initiatives. He is a member of ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, the Television Academy, the Recording Academy, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and serves on advisory boards for the World Soundtrack Awards, the Golden Globes, and several international film music festivals.
