Elaine Kanellis
Elaine Kanellis is the Senior Media Advisor in the Media Relations Group at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in Washington, DC. Prior to her assignment there in October 2018, she was the Deputy Chief of Communications for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) in Alexandria, VA and also worked as a Media Relations Officer in the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs for Headquarters, Department of the Army in the Pentagon. She has more than 30 years of experience in the public service sector as a public affairs and communications leader and is proficient and experienced in media relations, crisis management and response, issues management and message development. She has also managed integrated public affairs organizations, directed communications and public affairs strategies, provided media relations advice to senior leaders and developed and implemented video, World Wide Web, social media and motion media services. She lives in Burke, VA with her husband and they have two sons.
