Rick Markovitz is the president of Weissman/Markovitz Communications, bringing more than 30 years of senior experience with global advertising agencies, major entertainment companies, and technology-based firms to high-profile campaigns, including those centered on the Oscars and full spectrum of industry awards. He began his career as a fieldman for Columbia Pictures before moving into the digital arena, developing innovative awards-minded strategies that blend traditional publicity with emerging platforms. His clients have included the Food Network, the Directors Guild of America, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Paramount Pictures, FX Networks, the Art Directors Guild, the International Cinematographers Guild, and the Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild.

In addition to handling the Asian World Film Festival in Culver City, the firm represented the Oscar submission from China, “Dead to Rights.”

Previously, Markovitz held senior roles at leading agencies, including BBDO Worldwide, where he served as general manager of BBDO Interactive and pioneered new media initiatives for Fox Motion Pictures, MGM, Best Foods, VISA, Pepsi, GE, and the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, he is a member of the Public Relations Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Public Relations Peer Group of the Television Academy, as well as a member of the Public Relations Society of America, where he serves on the board of the Los Angeles Chapter.
