Melanie Mendez-Gonzales
Melanie Mendez-Gonzales is a seventh-generation Tejana, award-winning content creator and founder of Que Means What, a platform founded in 2011 and dedicated to exploring Latina identity through leadership, entertainment and family stories.
She leads MMG Media, LLC and hosts ¡SALUD!, one of KLRN’s most-watched original programs, which earned a 2025 Telly Award. Her work bridges storytelling, public service and representation.
A dedicated civic and cultural leader, Melanie serves on the board of Luminaria, a nonprofit organization championing San Antonio’s creative community through public art. She is also a member of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Committee.
Her commitment to leadership development includes completing the Dare to Lead™ training, graduating from Leadership SAISD, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber’s Latina Leadership Institute (2022 Co-Chair) and participating in Leadership San Antonio Class 50 and Google’s Class of Next Gen Policy Leaders.
A proud Texas State University Bobcat with a B.A. in Mass Communication, Melanie’s speaking credits include SXSW, UnidosUS National Conference and the Voto Latino Power Summit.
