Bentley “Chip” Washington

Bentley “Chip” Washington is a Los Angeles, California, native who dreamed of becoming a Television news broadcaster. He finally fulfilled that dream when he got his first break at a small station in Meridian, MS, in the early 90s. From there, Chip worked at stations in Jackson, MS, where Chip learned to be a reporter and eventually a weathercaster. He ultimately got the call to come to Memphis, where he first worked at WHBQ (Fox-13) as the first weathercaster on Good Morning Memphis in 1995.

From there, Chip returned to Jackson, working as a Public Information Officer for the police dept. and in various communications-related positions, including Media Relations Manager at Tougaloo College.

He has worked in for-profit, nonprofit, law enforcement, as the Public Information Officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and in academic and utility communications. Most recently, he worked at the Shelby County Health Department as the Public Information Officer for the Covid-19 Response Team.

Chip currently hosts two radio shows on WLOK weekdays, Let’s Talk About It, and Real Talk Memphis on WYXR. Chip is married to Wanda and has two children, Breanne and David, and a Jack Russell named Moses.
