Pitch 2.0: The Next Generation How Augusta University Cut Through the Noise

April 21, 2021 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Augusta University turned the content of its medical faculty experts and 11 media releases into 113 media hits - including mentions in top outlets such as MSN and PBS - all through using their experts content in a unique way. With 96% of pitches never placed, stale content being ignored, 56% of emails going to spam and  increasing difficulty getting audiences like media to pay attention, AU leveraged technology to take their expertise to the next level. Focusing on go-to experts offering unique angles on timely news topics, making their content available through different channels and perspectives. AU has been monitoring the success of this strategy and will share the data and what they've learned during this session, including how they kept the momentum going throughout the pandemic.

We'll discuss ways to leverage your experts, their answers, and perspectives to become a go-to resource for many including journalists the world over - a status that's of increasing importance as newsroom resources continue to shrink. Recruitment of talent, reputation and trust comes in a variety of forms and media attention is a large part of our multifaceted approach. Learn the value of having a variety of experts who are responsive and engaged to help get the word out about your institution's great work and expertise.
