Dear PRSA Banking and Finance Section Members,

It is an honor to serve as your new Chair of the PRSA Banking and Finance Section for 2026. I’ve been a section member for the last six years and I look forward to building on the strong foundation this section has established and continuing to make it a valuable resource for PR professionals across the banking and finance landscape.

As communicators in one of the most heavily regulated and scrutinized industries in the world, we understand better than most that trust is not built in a single headline but built over time through consistency, clarity, and substance. That principle will guide our programming and community this year as we focus on the issues and opportunities most relevant to our profession.

A Strong Webinar Presence on the Issues That Matter
The Banking and Finance Section has always maintained a strong webinar program, and 2026 will be no different. We remain committed to bringing timely, relevant topics to our members, led by expert practitioners who are navigating these challenges in real time.

Artificial intelligence remains at the top of our agenda. Having explored AI's broader impact on our industry last year, we'll go deeper in 2026 by focusing on practical use cases and daily workflows that PR pros can adopt in their roles right now. We’ll also examine Generative Engine Optimization, or GEO, and what the rise of AI-powered search means for earned media. As more people turn to tools like Clause and Perplexity for information, the credibility signals that earned media provides are becoming more valuable than ever, and we want our members to understand how to position their programs accordingly.

Creating Value and Fostering Community Our primary goal is to create value for you as public relations executives and communicators. We strive to foster a strong sense of community where you can connect with like-minded professionals, share insights, and support each other's growth. By participating in our events and discussions, you will have the opportunity to expand your network, gain new perspectives, and enhance your skills.

Building Trust Through Strategic Communications
In an era of heightened scrutiny, increased regulation, and audience skepticism, trust has never been a more valuable (or fragile) asset for financial brands. Communications departments have a critical role to play in helping their organizations move beyond simple product messaging and engage directly with stakeholders through stories that are authentic, substantive, and relevant.

The most effective financial brands are not simply broadcasting information. They are building reputations through consistent, credible communication, positioning their leaders as genuine experts, demonstrating their values through action, and earning the confidence of clients, prospects, regulators, and the broader public over time. PR, when done well, is one of the most powerful tools available to do exactly that.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead this section and look forward to a productive and engaging year ahead. I encourage you to participate in our programming, bring your colleagues into the conversation, and reach out with ideas for topics or speakers you would like to see featured.

Here's to a strong 2026!
