Dr. Katerina Tsetsura Receives PRSA’s Outstanding Educator Award at PRSA’s 2018 International Conference

NEW YORK, October 8, 2018 – The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) presented Katerina Tsetsura, Ph.D, with its Outstanding Educator Award, which recognizes a PRSA member who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of public relations education through college or university teaching. The award was presented on October 8th at the PRSA 2018 International Conference in Austin, Texas.

The Gaylord Family Professor of Public Relations and Strategic Communication in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma, Dr. Tsetsura is internationally known for her work in global public relations and media transparency.

She has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 conference proceedings and papers in global public relations, ethics, media transparency, social construction of public relations, women in the field of strategic communication and public diplomacy. She is a co-author (with Dr. Dean Kruckeberg) of a book, “Transparency, Public Relations, and the Mass Media: Combating the Hidden Influences in News Coverage Worldwide” (published by Taylor & Francis).

Dr. Tsetsura practices what she researches and teaches: she consults for companies, governments, and nonprofits in various industries, such as aerospace and aviation, automotive, heavy machinery, tourism and hospitality, and media, art and museum management. She offers her expertise in communication audit, geo-branding, issues management, strategic planning, sustainability and organizational capacity analysis, development of public relations research and evaluation methods, and advanced research, measurement and evaluation training and monitoring of campaigns.

Dr. Tsetsura actively serves the profession of public relations in a variety of roles. She is a past chair of the Global Affairs Committee of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and a chair of the Public Relations Division of the International Communication Association (ICA). Tsetsura is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society and of the Commission on Public Relations Education. She serves on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals including Communication Theory, International Journal of Strategic Communication and Public Relations Review.
