NEW YORK, April 1, 2019 – PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community, will offer a robust slate of professional development opportunities throughout the month of May designed to enhance and broaden communicators’ knowledge and skillsets.

Members can choose from a variety of online, in-person and on-demand courses. Highlights include:

PRSA’s new Digital Communication Certificate Program, a live, online series of six 90-minute sessions launching on Wednesday, May 22 from 3-4:30 p.m. EDT, is designed to equip management-level communicators with best practices regarding digital content strategy, personas, digital storytelling, writing for SEO and the web, digital innovation, and the measurement of digital communication. Justin Seibert, President of Direct Online Marketing, provides the structure of the program’s core curriculum, which will be taught by a combination of presenters.

PR Boot Camp: Key Concepts and Techniques of Effective Public Relations, takes place at Washington, D.C.’s Kellogg Conference Hotel on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT. Led by Robin Schell, APR, Fellow PRSA, senior counsel and partner, Jackson Jackson & Wagner, this program will provide an overview of public relations and communications concepts through lectures, case study presentations, discussions and group exercises.

Heathere Evans, APR, President of Pivot, Inc., presents a workshop on Emotional Intelligence: The Next Frontier for Communication Pros, on Friday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT in Los Angeles. Through hands-on tools, techniques, instruction, handouts and exercises, participants will learn the brain science of success and pivotal skills in communications and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) to shift into an active, empowered leadership position in any situation.

Gini Dietrich, Founder and CEO of Arment Dietrich and founder of the Spin Sucks podcast, leads the Maximize Owned and Earned Media to Garner (Real) Results workshop, taking place on Thursday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT at the Summit Executive Conference Center in Chicago. Dietrich will teach communication professionals how to strategically integrate earned and owned media, improve their SEO skills, and understand how today’s journalists work for views and shares.

People remember 30 percent of what they read, but 80 percent of what they see. That’s why today’s PR professional needs to understand how to tell stories visually. The Visual Storytelling Boot Camp, led by Lisa Arledge Powell, president of Mediasource, focuses on teaching attendees how to evolve their storytelling skills, incorporating a content marketing approach that includes strategic visuals. Taking place on Wednesday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT in San Francisco at the AMA Executive Conference Center, the workshop will include discussions on what equipment you need, how to amplify your content, and how to track and measure your storytelling success.
