PRSA Establishes New Faith & Communications Affinity Group Focused on Professional Development and Industry Need
Oct. 27, 2026
NEW YORK (Oct. 27, 2026) – PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community, today announced the establishment of its new Faith & Communications Affinity Group, a professional development community designed to support communicators who engage with faith‑based organizations, interfaith networks, religiously diverse audiences, and communities where belief or non‑belief shapes public understanding.
The group is intended to address communications challenges at the intersection of culture and religion, including those involving crisis response, public policy and other strategic communications disciplines.
PRSA CEO Matthew Marcial, CAE, APR, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening community, stating, “We value and support the important work of all our affinity groups. The Faith & Communications Affinity Group is an inclusive professional community grounded in pluralism. Its purpose is to foster meaningful engagement, provide valuable resources and offer professional development opportunities tailored to the distinct communications needs of practitioners — needs this group is uniquely positioned to address.”
The Faith & Communications Affinity Group will offer programming centered on key professional competencies, including religious literacy for communicators, crisis communication involving faith communities, media representation of religion, interfaith dialogue and community engagement, and ethical storytelling across belief perspectives.
“The launch of the Faith & Communications Affinity Group represents another intentional step in PRSA’s commitment to creating meaningful engagement opportunities for communities with unique professional needs,” said Felicia Blow, Ph.D., APR, co-chair of the Faith & Communications Affinity Group. “By welcoming members of all faith traditions and focusing on skills development, literacy and professional growth, we are creating an inclusive, balanced space that equips communicators to navigate today’s evolving environment while advancing PRSA’s mission.”
With this new Affinity Group, PRSA aims to expand professional development around faith‑related communication expertise, offering practitioners the tools and knowledge needed to navigate one of the most complex and consequential dimensions of modern communication.
