Building Team Engagement During a Turbulent Community Service Initiative

Anniversaries offer an opportunity to celebrate landmark moments and in 2019, the Washington, D.C.-area accounting firm which I served as director of marketing and business development was planning a two-year program to recognize our centennial.
One initiative was an ambitious community service effort with each team member leading a nonprofit volunteer project to build goodwill with the tax-exempt sector that had been crucial to our success.
The COVID pandemic would cause an unexpected disruption to the initiative. However, due to effective communications and flexibility, our team carried on.
