What It Takes to Recruit and Retain Diverse Talent

As part of your organization’s newfound commitment to diversity, perhaps you’ve increased the number of diverse hires at all levels. 

However, after a certain period of time, you may be frustrated and disappointed that some of these new employees haven’t performed to expectations. Some managers, while supportive of DE&I efforts, may be part of cultures that still reward sameness and predictability, as recruiting expert John Vlastelica has noted. He said that speed (the pressure to hire quickly) and predictability (hiring candidates with similar backgrounds) are the top internal barriers to recruiting from underrepresented groups.
