New Jersey City University School of Business Joins PRSA MBA/Business School Program

Jun. 15, 2020

NEW YORK, June 15, 2020 PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community, announced today that the New Jersey City University School of Business has joined PRSA’s MBA/Business School Program.

As part of the program, NJCU will offer access to PRSA’s strategic communications course as part of its MBA curriculum. Grounded in reputation management fundamentals, the course helps students gain an understanding of corporate communications (internal and external), integrated marketing communications, investor relations, corporate social responsibility (CSR), government relations and crisis communications.

“We are thrilled to welcome the NJCU School of Business to the PRSA MBA Program,” said T. Garland Stansell, APR, 2020 PRSA Chair. “As we all navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s becoming even more clear how communications and business functions are increasingly intertwined. The growing number of future leaders gaining communications skills through this program emphasizes the importance and value of communications and reputation management as core strategic disciplines in the business curriculum.”

The NJCU course will be offered starting this fall as a three-credit course and taught by Kathleen Donohue Rennie, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA. Rennie is an Associate Professor at NJCU and Chair of the Marketing Department in the NJCU School of Business. She has more than 20 years of professional and academic experience in public relations strategy, crisis communications and reputation management.

“Public relations is incredibly important when it comes to an organization’s brand, reputation and business goals,” Rennie said. “The class will ask graduate students to think critically about strategic communications, to research and apply lessons learned to current events and to develop their own proactive and reactive strategic communication plans.”

The PRSA MBA/Business School Program was launched in 2013 and was developed by leading business schools, including the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in collaboration with PRSA. The course is part of the curriculum at more than 15 colleges and universities across the country.

“The NJCU School of Business MBA curriculum is continually synced to meet the needs of advancing business professionals,” said Bernard McSherry, D.P.S, Dean of the NJCU School of Business. “In today’s marketplace, those with strategic communication expertise are at a distinct advantage. The PRSA MBA Program delivers a research-based curricular focus. NJCU MBA students will benefit from its rigor and application.”

To best meet the needs of each business school’s MBA program, the PRSA turnkey course is offered in full semester, mini-mester or seminar formats. To find more information on the course and to see the other participating colleges and universities, visit the PRSA website
